I'm Dom. I'm a game developer, musician, and college student. This is my game dev blog, with some inspiration and other stuff sprinkled in between.
Here's my portfolio
Here’s a game prototype I made! It’s essentially a full experience - it just lacks a little polish and isn’t a very long game at all. It’s a game about depth perception and relative pitch. It could definitely use a tutorial/better intro, but directions are included.

Feel free to let me know how your experience with this game was! I’d love all kinds of feedback, no matter how harsh.
Also, here’s my primary inspiration for this game.
As I worked on this project, the design changed very little. Most of the changes were about ease of interaction, which is perhaps the most important part of a game like this, since it’s so perceptually jarring. In the beginning, I didn’t provide the players with any instructions besides controls (and I still don’t in the game itself), but after having so many people have trouble figuring out the objective of the game, I decided to bundle instructions in with the game.

My idea for the environment came before the pitch-based puzzles. I was really inspired by that Cosmic Forest game I linked to above, and wanted to take that sort of art style further mechanically and perceptually. So, I decided to make the design on the game more structured in its navigation, and that’s where the perceptual difficulties really have consequence. Not only do you have to simply exist in this space like in Cosmic Forest, but you have goals that mandate that you are able to navigate depth-less labyrinth somewhat proficiently.
In order to further this game, I’d like to create a “prologue” and an “epilogue” to what I have now. Something to ease the player into the concepts more gently, since most people have difficulties with it, and then continue the game further with more unique areas/puzzles. I’d also like to really flesh out the sound design for the game, and make this a very entrancing audio-visual experience.
We’ll see how it goes. Thanks for playing! :)
